Apple could release a foldable iPhone within the next two years

While the announcement of the next iPhone is still six months away, reports are coming in for what Apple could potentially do to its iPhone two years from now. According to the latest news, Apple is looking into working on a foldable iPhone. Apple wants to change the design of the phone, and it has met with many suppliers in Asia for the possibility of a foldable phone.

“We expect the iPhones this fall to be largely unchanged for the OLED versions although size changes have proved to be a catalyst in the past,” analyst Wamsi Mohan wrote in a note to clients Friday. “Our checks also suggest that Apple is working with suppliers on a foldable phone (that potentially could double up as a tablet) for launch in 2020.”

Now the concept of a foldable phone is not new, in fact, Samsung had shown a working prototype of it four years ago. Unfortunately, that phone still hasn’t hit the market.

This falls in line with other rumors stating that Apple was doing away with the notch for its future iPhones as many competitors have started copying it. So maybe this could be the phone where there is no notch as well. It is also important to note that reports have come in Samsung’s favor saying that the company is working to release a foldable phone this year, or early next year, called the Samsung Galaxy X. Apart from this, LG themselves have patented ideas for a foldable smartphone as well. Will this affect Apple’s plans on its foldable smartphone, we do not know. But Apple has been known to wait and refine, so this can give Apple an opportunity to see how the consumers react, and act accordingly.

Right now Apple is gearing up for their March 27th presentation where they could potentially announce a slew of new products.
